The Story

Edward McLarty ran the mail coaches between Perth, Bunbury and Vasse until the railway opened in 1893, then auctioned the coaches off and built this in 1894 with the proceeds. His son Ross became Premier of Western Australia. Two storeys on the bank of the Murray at the South West Highway corner, with an L-shaped veranda under bull-nosed tin. Bistro, beer garden, TAB.
