The Story
More fresh-food emporium than weekend stall, this independent green grocer on Vittoria Road in Glen Iris buys direct from more than 150 Western Australian growers and producers, sidestepping the long supply chains of the supermarkets. Departments run from produce, butchery and seafood to a deli, bakery and flowers, while the in-house Market Made range turns whole ingredients into ready meals, snacks and desserts from on-site kitchens. A cafe at the front pours barista coffee and sells the pies it has become known for. Founded by Graham Heath and grown into a South West institution, it is where locals and visitors alike stock up, and a useful measure of the region's produce in one stop.
